Responsibilities

• Assess and analyse risk for new and renewal insurance applications.
• Communicate underwriting decisions effectively to clients and brokers.
• Identify trends and provide feedback for product development.
• Utilize underwriting software and tools to process applications efficiently.
• Collaborate with claims and compliance teams to address underwriting guidelines.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss underwriting strategies and challenges.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior underwriters.
• Develop strong relationships with clients to foster retention and loyalty.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or a related field
• Postgraduate qualifications are desirable

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting or related fields

Certifications

• Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) certification
• Professional Risk Manager (PRM) certification is an advantage
