Job Description

As a Blaster, you will be crucial in operating and maintaining blasting equipment necessary for excavating minerals from various sites. The role requires adherence to strict safety protocols while effectively collaborating with teams on the ground.

Responsibilities

• Manage the loading and handling of explosives in a safe manner.
• Conduct safety briefings and risk assessments before blasting operations.
• Ensure documentation and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the design of blast patterns and sequences.
• Work with the Operations Manager to optimize blasting schedules.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss operational improvements.
• Maintain an organized workspace and ensure compliance with cleanup protocols.
• Report any safety incidents or equipment malfunctions promptly.

Requirements

Education

• Matric Certificate (Grade 12)
• Trade Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is advantageous

Experience

• Experience working with various types of explosives, especially in underground mining.

Technical Skills

• Geology Knowledge
• Use of Blasting Software

Soft Skills

• Communication
• Attention to Detail

Certifications

• Experience with Blasting Software like BlastIQ
• Advanced Safety Training

Languages

• English: Fluent
