Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Underwriter to join our Durban team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing risks and determining appropriate coverage levels for various insurance policies. This role requires analytical thinking and strong decision-making skills to ensure accurate and fair underwriting practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough risk assessments for property, casualty, and liability insurance.
• Work alongside the sales team to provide expertise in insurance product offerings.
• Participate in training sessions to stay updated on insurance laws and regulations.
• Prepare detailed reports on underwriting decisions and rationale.
• Review and amend existing policy terms and conditions as needed.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science is preferred
• Master's degree in Business Administration or Finance is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years in the insurance underwriting field or related experience

Certifications

• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
