Job Description

As an Excavating and Loading Machine Operator, you will be in charge of operating heavy machinery like bulldozers and excavators to efficiently move earth, rock, and other materials on-site. Your ability to follow safety protocols and execute tasks precisely will directly impact project success and site safety.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure functionality.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and best practices on-site.
  • Assist with the training of new operators.
  • Document daily equipment usage and maintenance tasks.
  • Support other construction crew members in executing tasks as required.
  • Participate in safety meetings and advocate for best safety practices.
  • Manage fuel and maintenance scheduling for assigned equipment.

Requirements

Education
  • Grade 12 preferred
Experience
  • At least 2 years' experience in a similar role in construction or mining projects.
Technical Skills
  • Safety regulations knowledge
  • Project plan interpretation
Soft Skills
  • Problem-solving
  • Physical stamina
Certifications
  • Additional certifications in operating specialized equipment
Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Experience with GPS and navigation systems: Ability to utilize GPS technology for precise operation and route planning.
  • Bilingual in English and Afrikaans: Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Afrikaans.
