Mobile Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Description

As a Mobile Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling a variety of heavy construction equipment. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic tests and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical malfunctions in heavy machinery.
• Overhaul engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems as necessary.
• Train junior mechanics and apprentices in best practices for maintenance and safety.
• Stay updated with the latest industry standards and equipment technologies.
• Collaborate with other technicians to complete complex repairs efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and manufacturing specifications.
• Participate in safety training and development programs.
• Assist in emergency repairs in the field when needed.

Requirements

Education

• Matric or equivalent
• Trade certificate in Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or related field preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience with heavy construction equipment.

Technical Skills

• Safety compliance

Certifications

• Forklift operator certificate (advantageous)

Languages

• English: Fluent

• Familiarity with construction equipment brands like CAT, JCB, and Komatsu: Experience working on or with various brands of construction equipment.
