As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will provide critical support and guidance to individuals facing addiction challenges. Your role includes assessing clients, developing personalized treatment plans, and facilitating therapeutic sessions.
Responsibilities
Conduct initial assessments and develop personalized treatment plans.
Provide individual therapy and facilitate group sessions, focusing on evidence-based strategies.
Monitor client's progress through regular follow-ups and adjust plans as necessary.
Maintain professional documentation and comply with legal standards.
Provide referrals to external resources and facilitate integration with community services.
Engage in case management to effectively address client needs.
Educate families about addiction treatment and recovery options.
Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, social workers, and other specialists.
Participate in ongoing professional training and development opportunities.
Foster a supportive and compassionate environment for clients.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work
Registered or in the process of registering with HPCSA
Experience
3-5 years' experience in addiction treatment or counseling
