Job Description

As an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, you will be tasked with conducting thorough investigations into workplace accidents and incidents. Your role is crucial in identifying root causes and proposing effective measures to prevent future occurrences.

Responsibilities

• Lead investigations into accidents and incidents within the workplace.
• Analyze data to identify trends in safety incidents and recommend improvements.
• Create and implement safety training programs for all employees.
• Conduct risk assessments and evaluate workplace safety measures.
• Engage with various departments to facilitate a cohesive approach to safety.
• Manage safety documentation and ensure proper record-keeping.
• Act as a liaison with relevant regulatory bodies regarding compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement in safety standards across the organisation.

Requirements

Education

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
• Master’s in Occupational Safety is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in safety investigations or related field

Technical Skills

• Safety software proficiency
• Risk management

Soft Skills

• Attention to detail
• Time management skills

Certifications

• Registered Safety Officer (RSO)
• First Aid Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational
