Horse Groomer

Job Description

The Horse Groomer is responsible for the maintenance, care, and grooming of horses in a stable environment. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of horse care practices and the ability to work well with animals.

Responsibilities

• Manage the feeding routines and ensure access to clean water.
• Conduct regular cleaning of stables, ensuring the horses’ living spaces are tidy.
• Perform daily grooming tasks including bathing and hoof care.
• Assist with the health monitoring and general well-being of the horses.
• Support training practices and assist during lessons as needed.
• Maintain grooming supplies and report shortages promptly.
• Document care information accurately to ensure complete records.
• Engage with customers and assist them during horse riding activities.
• Participate in training sessions to improve skills and knowledge.
• Adhere to safety protocols while handling horses.

Requirements

Education

• Matric Certificate or Equivalent
• Certification or diploma in animal care is preferred

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of working with horses.

Technical Skills

• Horse Management Skills
• Knowledge of Equine Behaviour

Soft Skills

• Problem Solving
• Physical Stamina

Certifications

• Equine Behaviour Training Certification
• Horse Grooming Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in Competitive Riding: Familiarity with competitive riding events and horse shows.
• Previous Work in a Riding School: Experience working in a riding school environment is a plus.
