Job Description

The Menhaden Vessel Pilot is responsible for steering and navigating a commercial fishing vessel that specializes in catching Menhaden fish. This role involves working closely with the fishing crew to ensure safety and efficiency during operations.

Responsibilities

• Navigate the Menhaden vessel to designated fishing areas.
• Ensure compliance with all maritime safety protocols.
• Collaborate with the fishing crew on operational processes.
• Maintain accurate logs of fishing activities, including environmental conditions.
• Respond to emergencies and ensure crew safety at all times.

Requirements

Education

• Valid South African Maritime Pilot License
• High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

• Experience navigating commercial fishing vessels preferred.

Technical Skills

• Expertise in radar systems
• Fishing machinery skills

Soft Skills

• Analytical thinking
• Leadership abilities

Certifications

• First Aid and CPR Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
