Join our team as an Insurance Underwriter in Durban! We are looking for an analytical and detail-oriented professional who can assess risks and underwrite policies in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in evaluating applications and making sound decisions based on our underwriting guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assess insurance applications and clients' risk based on established guidelines.
• Determine, recommend, and issue insurance coverage and terms in line with company policies.
• Negotiate terms and conditions with agents and clients as needed.
• Advise on ongoing risk management practices post-policy issuance.
• Evaluate trends in risk management and insurance to update underwriting practices.
• Engage in continuous growth through trainings and industry education.
• Provide policyholders with clear explanations of coverage and exclusions.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or Insurance

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting insurance policies.

Technical Skills

• Insurance Regulations
• Financial Acumen

Certifications

• Advanced Insurance Qualification (AIQ)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

Advantageous

• Experience in commercial insurance underwriting: Previous experience with commercial insurance policies is a plus.
