Mining Engineer

Job Description

We are in search of a skilled Mining Engineer to join our Durban team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in geology and engineering, focusing on improving mining processes and ensuring safety standards. You will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to optimize production and sustainability efforts.

Responsibilities

• Implement innovative mining technologies to enhance extraction efficiency.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with operational safety standards.
• Work closely with environmental teams to minimize the ecological impact of mining activities.
• Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers and interns.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders including regulators and community groups to ensure transparency.
• Evaluate equipment and propose improvements or replacements as necessary.
• Document all engineering work and ensure proper project management protocols are followed.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
• Professional Engineering registration is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in surface or underground mining engineering
