Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive legal advice, support corporate governance, and handle compliance matters. Responsibilities

• Advise on corporate governance best practices and compliance issues.
• Draft and negotiate various types of contracts and agreements.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings and negotiations.
• Conduct audits of company policies and practices for legal compliance.
• Provide legal advice related to intellectual property rights and protections.
• Collaborate with finance and business teams on legal aspects of transactions.
• Monitor and ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
• Participate in risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Assist in developing the legal department's strategic initiatives.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Law or related field
• Master's degree in Corporate Law preferred

Experience

• 5 years in a relevant legal role, ideally in a corporate setting

Technical Skills

• Intellectual Property Law

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Proficiency in legal research tools: Experience with legal research software and tools is a plus.
