Public Health Analyst

Job Description

As a Public Health Analyst, your role will encompass the analysis of qualitative and quantitative health data, alongside community health initiatives. You'll work collaboratively with public health professionals to enhance health information systems and develop strategies that improve community health outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct data analysis to inform public health policy.
• Prepare analytical reports and share findings with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with public health teams to implement health initiatives.
• Assess community health needs through surveys and research.
• Develop metrics for evaluating public health strategies.
• Support training for staff on data collection methodologies.
• Participate in grant applications for public health funding.
• Engage with local health agencies to optimize program delivery.
• Conduct literature reviews related to public health topics.
• Assist in creating informational materials for community education.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology or related field
• Master's degree is a significant advantage

Experience

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in public health

Technical Skills

• Epidemiological Analysis
• Health Policy Knowledge
• Statistical Software (e.g. SPSS, SAS)

Certifications

• Registered Epidemiologist (RE)
• Project Management Professional (PMP)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

• Experience in Health Education Programming: Knowledge of developing and implementing health education initiatives.
• Fluency in Additional Languages: Strong advantage if fluent in additional South African languages.
