The Cottage Parent plays a vital role in nurturing and caring for children in a safe residential environment. This involves creating a supportive atmosphere that fosters emotional and physical well-being.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily routines, including meals and homework.
• Communicate with other team members regarding children's needs.
• Engage children in positive interactions.
• Monitor behaviors and provide appropriate interventions.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss care strategies.
• Contribute to maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.
• Document any incidents or concerns promptly.
• Support children’s individual goals and development.
• Encourage participation in group activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols.

Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma
• Certificate in Child and Youth Care Work or related field preferred

Experience

• 1-3 years of experience in child care or related fields

• Excellent communication

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Conversational

Advantageous

• Training in trauma-informed care: Experience in understanding and responding to trauma-related challenges in children.
