Job Description

We are seeking a proactive Health and Safety Officer to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing health and safety policies to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and to promote a safe working environment for all staff.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor compliance to safety standards and regulations.
  • Develop training materials and conduct orientation for new hires.
  • Assist management in developing safety strategies and practices.
  • Review and update safety policies as required.
  • Prepare and present safety performance reports to management.
  • Drive a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of health and safety staff.
  • Foster relationships with health and safety consultants and regulators.
  • Engage with employees to foster a positive safety culture.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health or Safety Management
  • Postgraduate qualifications preferred
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years in health and safety roles within healthcare
