Structural Engineer

Job Description

As a Structural Engineer in Port Elizabeth, you will be at the forefront of designing, analyzing, and managing various construction projects. Your role will involve ensuring the structural integrity of buildings and infrastructure while collaborating with other engineering disciplines. This position requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of engineering principles as well as local building codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct material selections based on structural requirements and costs.
• Perform risk assessments related to structural integrity.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
• Coordinate with contractors during the construction phase.
• Ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Master's degree is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in structural engineering roles

Technical Skills

• ETABS
• SAP2000

Soft Skills

• Team leadership
• Negotiation

Certifications

• Certified Structural Engineer
• Professional Engineer License (mandatory)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with Local Building Codes: Understanding of local regulations and how they apply to structural design.
• Proficiency in 3D Modeling: Experience in modeling software such as SketchUp or Rhino.
