Stable Attendant

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Stable Attendant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily care of horses, ensuring their well-being alongside the maintenance of stable facilities. A true passion for horse care is essential.

Responsibilities

• Daily feeding and maintenance of horses.
• Grooming and handling of horses for exercise.
• Cleaning and upkeep of stables and related facilities.
• Monitoring the health and behaviour of the horses.
• Providing assistance with veterinary treatments as necessary.
• Ensuring the security and proper functioning of stable equipment.
• Documenting daily activities and horse care procedures.
• Observing and complying with all health and safety regulations.
• Assisting in the training and preparation of horses for events.
• Other duties assigned by the Barn Manager.

Requirements

Education

• Matric certificate
• Diploma in Animal Care or similar is advantageous

Experience

• Experience with basic equine first aid is an advantage

Technical Skills

• Equine nutrition knowledge
• First aid skills for horses

Soft Skills

• Communication
• Reliability

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Driving license for horse trailers: A valid driving license for towing horse trailers is preferred.
• Experience with competition preparation: Knowledge of preparing horses for competitions and events.
