Insurance Underwriter

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our Stellenbosch team. The successful candidate will assess risks, evaluate applications, and determine coverage amounts and premiums. You will work closely with clients and agents to ensure that we deliver accurate and timely underwriting decisions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and underwriting evaluations.
• Communicate underwriting decisions clearly to clients and agents.
• Review and process renewals of existing policies.
• Utilize underwriting software to manage policy applications.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss underwriting strategies.
• Enhance client relationships through excellent service and communication.
• Adjust underwriting processes as per changing market demands.
• Evaluate the impact of changes in insurance laws on company policies.
• Advise on the development of new insurance products.

Requirements

Education

• Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, or related field
• Higher-level insurance qualification preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting or insurance roles preferred

Certifications

• Registered Insurance Underwriter designation is a plus

Languages

• English: Fluent
