Insurance Underwriter

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our Stellenbosch team. The successful candidate will assess risks, evaluate applications, and determine coverage amounts and premiums. You will work closely with clients and agents to ensure that we deliver accurate and timely underwriting decisions.

Responsibilities

• Assess insurance applications and associated risks.
• Determine coverage amounts and premiums based on risk evaluation.
• Collaborate with brokers and clients to get relevant information.
• Review claims and decide on approval or denial based on policy terms.
• Maintain accurate records of underwriting activities.
• Develop and implement underwriting policies and guidelines.
• Stay updated with market trends and changes in insurance regulations.
• Prepare reports on underwriting activities and trends.
• Provide exceptional customer service and resolve any underwriting-related inquiries.
• Continuously improve underwriting processes and efficiency.

Requirements

Education

• Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, or related field
• Higher-level insurance qualification preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting or insurance roles preferred

Certifications

• Registered Insurance Underwriter designation is a plus

Languages

• English: Fluent
