Insurance Underwriter

Job Description

Looking for an experienced Insurance Underwriter to evaluate and process insurance applications. You will use your analytical and financial assessment skills to decide risk levels and set appropriate premium rates. This role involves working closely with clients and other team members to ensure a smooth underwriting process.

Responsibilities

• Determine eligibility for insurance coverage based on company guidelines.
• Create and customize policies that meet the needs of diverse clients.
• Engage with industry professionals to enhance knowledge and practices.
• Assist in claims examinations in the event of disputes.
• Evaluate reinsurance needs and work with reinsurers as necessary.
• Review client portfolios and recommend adjustments.
• Balance risk and customer service to ensure profitability.
• Facilitate training sessions for new hires regarding underwriting standards.
• Participate in underwriting committees to discuss emerging risks.
• Conduct audits on policies to ensure compliance with legal standards.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Economics, or related field
• Further certification in Risk Management is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry, with at least 2 years in underwriting
