Animal Caretaker

Job Description

As an Animal Caretaker, you will play a vital role in our equestrian centre, providing care for horses and supporting their health and wellbeing. You’ll work closely with our veterinarians and trainers to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for our animals.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily health checks on all horses.
• Prepare feed and manage dietary needs for individual horses.
• Assist with veterinary visits and treatments.
• Educate team members on proper horse handling techniques.
• Participate in training sessions to enhance skills.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Promote a positive environment for both staff and animals.
• Contribute to team meetings with insights and suggestions.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma or degree in Animal Science or related fields

Experience

• 2+ years working experience in a similar role.

Technical Skills

• First Aid for horses
• Animal behaviour understanding

Soft Skills

• Teamwork
• Adaptability

Certifications

• Equine Behavior Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience handling a variety of horse breeds: Proficiency in working with different types of horses.
• Ability to perform basic riding tasks: Basic riding skills to assist with training sessions.
