Structural Engineer

Job Description

As a Structural Engineer at our Port Elizabeth office, you will leverage your technical skills to ensure that structural components are designed and built to exceptionally high standards. Your role will include working closely with architects and project managers to deliver safe, cost-effective, and sustainable infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design phase of various projects.
• Conduct site visits to assess conditions and ensure compliance with design.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and techniques.
• Advocate for the use of sustainable materials and methods in designs.
• Prepare technical documentation and reports for clients.
• Assist in resolving technical disputes and site challenges.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or related field
• Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering is advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in structural design and engineering

Technical Skills

• Civil 3D
• SolidWorks
• Geotechnical Analysis

Soft Skills

• Critical Thinking
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
• Structural Engineering Certification

Languages

• Afrikaans: Conversational
• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in designing residential and commercial buildings: Background in various structural types, improving versatility.
• Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) techniques: Experience with BIM processes enhances collaboration.
