Job Description

As an Ophthalmic Medical Technologist, you'll play a vital role in assisting ophthalmologists with diagnosing and treating eye conditions. Your expertise in various diagnostic tests will enhance patient care and improve outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic tests such as OCT and visual fields.
• Support ophthalmologists in minor surgical procedures.
• Ensure the proper maintenance of ophthalmic equipment.
• Record and update patient records in the electronic medical record system.
• Provide patient education on eye health and treatment options.
• Assist with inventory management and order medical supplies.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Ophthalmic Technology or a related field
• Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)

Experience

• 2-3 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technologist

Technical Skills

• OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography)
• EMR Software

Soft Skills

• Communication
• Detail-oriented

Certifications

• HPCSA Registration as an Ophthalmic Technologist

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with specialized diagnostic equipment such as OCT: Hands-on experience in operating advanced diagnostic tools.
