Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to enhance our team based in Port Elizabeth. The candidate will engage in the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical components, working closely with other engineering disciplines. This position is key to the development of new products and technologies, and requires a proactive mindset along with a commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

• Use advanced simulation tools to validate designs.
• Engage in supplier negotiations for technical components.
• Coordinate engineering projects with project management staff.
• Support customers with technical inquiries and services.
• Create prototypes and models for product testing.
• Evaluate and select appropriate materials for product designs.
• Prepare and present project presentations to stakeholders.
• Lead engineering meetings to prioritize project milestones.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Certification in Project Management is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience

Technical Skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Material Science

Soft Skills

• Leadership
• Analytical Thinking

Certifications

• Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Trello): Proficient in managing engineering tasks and timelines using project management tools.
• Exposure to lean manufacturing principles: Knowledge in improving manufacturing processes through lean methodologies.
