Job Description

As a laborer in the maritime industry, you will take on the critical role of ensuring that all fastening methods utilized in shipbuilding meet rigorous standards. This position requires a solid understanding of fastening techniques and materials. You will work closely with engineers and other team members to maintain the integrity of ship structures while following stringent safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Implement innovative fastening techniques to improve assembly efficiency.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues related to fastening during construction.
  • Work in close collaboration with other trades to ensure smooth workflow on-site.
  • Provide input for material selection related to fastening systems.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of fastening methods in practice and suggest improvements.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for new team members on fastening procedures.
  • Participate in safety inspections and audits to enhance workplace safety standards.
  • Assist with inventory management of fastening materials and tools.
  • Provide feedback on the quality of fastening materials used.
  • Foster a team-oriented culture by promoting collaborative practices across the operations.

Advantageous

  • Prior experience working on large ship construction projects: Experience with significant maritime projects and assembly procedures.
  • Knowledge of specific shipbuilding regulations and standards: Understanding relevant safety and regulatory standards in shipbuilding.
  • Additional certifications in welding or rigging: Possession of extra credentials in related fields will be beneficial.
