Extraction Worker

Job Description

As an Extraction Worker, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy machinery to extract coal from both underground and open-pit mines. Your role is crucial in ensuring efficient production while following safety regulations and environmental guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Utilize drills, excavators, and conveyor belts effectively during coal extraction.
• Monitor machinery performance and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Collaborate with other miners to ensure effective communication and teamwork.
• Conduct safety and environmental inspections regularly.
• Assist in the planning and improvement of extraction operations.
• Document and report production statistics to the management team.

Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
• National Certificate in Mining Operations preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in coal extraction or similar roles

Technical Skills

• Hazardous materials handling
• Machinery maintenance

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Physical fitness

Certifications

• Driver's license (Code 10 or higher)
• First Aid Certificate

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in open-pit mining: Familiarity with extraction methods and machinery used in open-pit mining.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations: Understanding of compliance requirements in mining and coal extraction.
