Hatchery Worker

Job Description

We are looking for dedicated Hatchery Workers to join our team at Aquaculture Solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for the breeding and rearing of fish in a controlled environment, focusing on maintaining the health and growth of the fish.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain hatchery systems effectively.
• Assist in the development of breeding programs.
• Monitor disease prevention protocols consistently.
• Support in research and improvement of breeding techniques.
• Help coordinate the logistics of fish transfers.
• Engage in waste management practices to uphold sustainability.
• Assist with data entry and reporting tasks.
• Facilitate communication between teams for seamless operations.
• Conduct training sessions on aquaculture best practices.
• Actively contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.

Requirements

Education

• Matric Certificate or equivalent
• Diploma or degree in Aquaculture or Fisheries is preferred

Experience

• Experience in aquaculture or fisheries is advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Fish Biology
• Aquaculture Equipment Operation

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Organisation

Certifications

• First Aid and CPR certification is advantageous

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Ability to speak additional local languages: Fluent in additional South African languages advantageous for communication.
• Previous experience in a hatchery setting: Experience in a similar hatchery environment is a plus.
