Social Worker

Job Description

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Social Worker to join our team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in community outreach and advocacy for vulnerable populations. You will play a key role in developing and implementing programs that address the social, emotional, and practical needs of clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide social services to individuals and families in need.
• Conduct home visits and assessments to evaluate client situations.
• Develop community programs to address pressing social issues.
• Build trust and rapport with clients through empathetic communication.
• Promote social justice and equity through advocacy efforts.
• Engage stakeholders in collaborative service delivery initiatives.
• Participate in case conferences and contribute to interdisciplinary discussions.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field
• Master's degree in Social Work or Psychology is preferred

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in a social services role

Technical Skills

• Trauma-informed care
• Group facilitation
• Counseling

Soft Skills

• Critical thinking
• Negotiation

Certifications

• Registered Social Worker (RSW)
• Crisis Intervention Training

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

Advantageous

• Bilingual skills: Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Afrikaans or Zulu.
• Experience in community organizing: Background in mobilizing community resources and support.
