Job Description

The Public Health Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing health promotion strategies within the Durban community. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of public health practices and experience in community outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Create strategic plans for health promotion tailored to community needs.
  • Coordinate with schools to implement health programs for students.
  • Monitor and evaluate public health policies and their impact.
  • Draft grant proposals for funding health initiatives.
  • Conduct training sessions for health education facilitators.
  • Assist in the development of public health emergency plans.
  • Serve as a liaison between health organizations and the community.
  • Manage resources and budgets for health programs.
  • Report on health statistics and trends to stakeholders.
  • Advocate for health equity and access to services.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, or related field
  • Master's degree in Public Health is preferred
Experience
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in community health or public health settings
