Job Description

We are on the lookout for an experienced Emergency Management Director responsible for establishing and maintaining emergency preparedness strategies. You will work closely with local government, first responders, and community stakeholders to ensure effective response to any critical incident.

Responsibilities

• Manage the implementation of emergency management policies and procedures.
• Act as the primary liaison between local authorities and emergency responders during crises.
• Evaluate and improve emergency response readiness and efficiency.
• Prepare training materials focused on risk management and safety procedures.
• Advise on resource allocation for emergency preparedness.
• Collaborate with external agencies on disaster preparedness initiatives.
• Lead the response efforts in critical incidents, ensuring operations run smoothly.
• Analyze post-event data to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in related field

Experience

• 5 years of experience in a leadership role within emergency management

Technical Skills

• Incident Command System (ICS)

Soft Skills

• Analytical Thinking

Certifications

• Disaster Recovery Institute International Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

• Bilingual in English and Afrikaans: Fluency in both languages to effectively communicate with diverse communities.
