Court Interpreter

Job Description

As a Court Interpreter, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating communication during court proceedings for individuals who speak different languages. Your expertise in legal terminology and fluency in both English and another language will ensure that all parties understand the proceedings fully.

Responsibilities

• Ensure precise interpretation during court proceedings, including for witnesses and defendants.
• Translate legal documents and transcripts as needed.
• Verify the accuracy of all interpretations to maintain legal integrity.
• Attend and participate in training sessions to enhance language skills.
• Work closely with court officials to facilitate understanding.
• Document and manage caseloads effectively.
• Provide cultural context as necessary to the legal staff.
• Stay updated on changes in legal procedures and terminology.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in translation, interpretation, or a related field
• Certification as a court interpreter is required

Experience

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a court interpreter or similar field

Technical Skills
