Urban Planner

Job Description

Looking for an experienced Urban Planner to contribute to exciting projects within Port Elizabeth. This role requires a strong understanding of urban planning principles and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders. You will work on plans related to transportation, infrastructure, and land use, ensuring compliance with zoning laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Create innovative and practical urban designs that enhance community function and aesthetics.
• Analyze demographic and economic data to inform urban planning strategies.
• Consult with local government on proposals for development and land use changes.
• Prepare budgets and resource plans for urban development projects.
• Facilitate public consultation processes to solicit feedback on planning initiatives.
• Assess the impact of proposed developments on the local community and environment.
• Advise on urban policy and program initiatives at local government meetings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive urban solutions.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or a related field
• Master's degree in Urban Planning or related specialization preferred

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in urban planning or related field

Technical Skills

• Urban Design
• Geographical Information Systems (GIS)

• Analytical Thinking

Certifications

• Registered Planner with the South African Council for Planning

Languages

• English: Fluent
