Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to join our Cape Town office. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and managing structural projects from concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design meetings with project stakeholders.
• Assist in developing project proposals and cost estimates.
• Review and approve structural designs and specifications.
• Coach and mentor junior team members.
• Implement best practices in engineering processes.
• Stay updated with industry trends and technologies.
• Prepare presentations for client meetings.
• Enhance collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering is preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is a must

Experience

• 6 years of experience in structural or civil engineering

Technical Skills

• Finite Element Analysis
• SAP2000

Soft Skills

• Adaptability
• Negotiation

Certifications

• Chartered Engineer status
• Project Management Professional (PMP)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of seismic design principles: Experience in designing structures for seismic resilience.
• Experience with steel and concrete design: Hands-on experience with various structural materials.
