Job Description

We are in search of a detailed and analytical Insurance Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Cape Town. In this role, you will evaluate insurance applications, determine coverage and terms, and ensure compliance with industry regulations. You will play a crucial role in risk assessment and management, contributing to the overall success of the company.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough analysis of insurance applications for various lines of business.
• Utilize statistical models to assess risk and make underwriting judgments.
• Collaborate with actuaries to determine pricing and risk management strategies.
• Develop and implement underwriting policies that align with company goals.
• Handle escalated client inquiries and provide resolution efficiently.
• Prepare reports on underwriting performance and trends to inform management decisions.
• Track industry trends and adjust underwriting practices accordingly.
• Participate in marketing initiatives to help attract new clients.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, or related field
• Postgraduate qualification is a plus

Experience

• Minimum 4 years of experience in underwriting or related insurance roles
