Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our team in Durban. The successful applicant will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of animal health issues, performing surgeries, and providing preventative care to animals. This role requires a strong commitment to animal welfare and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Examine animals for diseases or injuries and provide appropriate treatment.
• Perform minor and major surgeries, ensuring animal welfare at all times.
• Consult with pet owners regarding health and wellness resources.
• Develop individual health care plans for pets and manage ongoing cases.
• Create awareness programs for pet owners on vaccination and disease prevention.
• Participate actively in community outreach programs and animal welfare initiatives.
• Provide insights on animal behavior and necessary training recommendations.
• Monitor and handle emergency cases as they arise.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's in Veterinary Science or equivalent
• Additional certifications in specialized veterinary fields are a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in veterinary medicine, focusing on surgery and emergency care

Certifications

• Veterinary Practitioner's License
• Membership of the South African Veterinary Association (SAVA)
