Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our team in Durban. The successful applicant will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of animal health issues, performing surgeries, and providing preventative care to animals. This role requires a strong commitment to animal welfare and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health.
• Perform preventive, diagnostic, and treatment procedures.
• Supervise and train veterinary staff and support team members.
• Implement and adhere to veterinary standards of care and protocols.
• Participate in continuous education to stay updated with veterinary advances.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with clients through excellent customer service.
• Assist in the management of the veterinary practice, including inventory control.
• Collaborate with animal shelters and rescue organizations as needed.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's in Veterinary Science or equivalent
• Additional certifications in specialized veterinary fields are a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in veterinary medicine, focusing on surgery and emergency care

Certifications

• Membership of the South African Veterinary Association (SAVA)
