Sheep Herder

Job Description

As a Sheep Herder, you will be responsible for managing and tending to the flock. This includes feeding, watering, shearing, and protecting the sheep from predators. If you have a passion for animal husbandry and a desire to work outdoors, we want you on our team!

Responsibilities

• Feed and care for sheep daily.
• Maintain flock health through regular check-ups.
• Manage and implement breeding practices.
• Ensure proper hygiene and sanitation in sheep housing areas.
• Document health incidents and treatment administered.
• Assist with daily herd tracking and monitoring.
• Engage in seasonal activities like shearing and lambing.
• Coordinate with suppliers for feed and medical supplies.
• Contribute to farm maintenance tasks as needed.
• Support educational outreach to promote sustainable farming.

Requirements

Education

• Matric
• Additional qualifications in Animal Science preferred

Experience

• 2+ years experience in a related position

Technical Skills

• Physical fitness and endurance
• Understanding of animal welfare practices

Soft Skills

• Attention to detail
• Multitasking

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Ability to speak an additional language: Bilingual candidates will be preferred.
