We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will assess risk, evaluate insurance applications, and make informed decisions based on underwriting guidelines. This role is crucial in helping our company maintain profitability while ensuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Analyze risk and exposure for potential insurance clients.
• Work closely with brokers to gather necessary underwriting information.
• Make informed decisions regarding policy approvals and denials.
• Ensure that policies are written in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Review claims history to better assess risk levels.
• Communicate policy terms and conditions clearly to clients.
• Monitor industry laws and trends that affect underwriting practices.
• Prepare analyses to present to management regarding underwriting performance.
• Support marketing efforts by providing information on risk assessment.
• Collaborate with other insurance teams to enhance service delivery.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Finance, or related field
• Relevant certifications in underwriting are preferable

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in underwriting or insurance-related roles

• Associate in Commercial Underwriting (ACU)
