Job Description

As an Animal Welfare Officer in Durban, you will be responsible for the care, treatment, and well-being of animals in our facility. Your role entails enforcing animal welfare laws, conducting inspections, and working closely with local communities to promote animal health and safety. Ideal candidates will have a passion for animal rights and experience in veterinary practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of animal care programs.
  • Engage in outreach and educational initiatives to promote awareness of animal welfare.
  • Develop and implement strategies for improving the welfare of animals in our care.
  • Coordinate with local authorities during animal welfare investigations.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal health and welfare reports.
  • Advocate for animal rights through community engagement and media outreach.
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives to support animal welfare programs.
  • Evaluate and suggest improvements to current welfare policies.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior staff and volunteers.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science or Animal Welfare
  • Postgraduate qualification in Veterinary Medicine is preferred
Experience
  • 4+ years of experience in animal welfare or veterinary roles
