Insurance Underwriter

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our Port Elizabeth team. In this role, you will evaluate insurance applications, assess associated risks, and determine coverage terms. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of underwriting principles and a passion for providing excellent customer service. You will work closely with clients and agents to gather necessary information and make informed decisions on policy approvals.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough evaluations of risk presented in insurance applications.
• Liaise with legal and compliance teams to ensure policy adherence.
• Prepare reports on underwriting results and performance metrics.
• Assist in developing marketing strategies focused on underwriting capabilities.
• Participate in industry meetings and workshops for knowledge sharing.
• Foster relationships with external stakeholders to enhance underwriting practices.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field

Experience

• 4+ years of experience in underwriting or risk management

• Data Analysis

Certifications

• CII Advanced Diploma in Insurance
• Fellowship of the Insurance Institute (FII)

Languages

• English: Fluent

• Bilingual skills: Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Afrikaans.
