Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and analysis, with experience in a variety of engineering projects. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components.
• Conduct tests to evaluate product performance.
• Ensure all designs conform to industry standards and client specifications.
• Work with project managers to ensure timely project delivery.
• Prepare and present technical documents and reports.
• Assist in the procurement of materials and components.
• Monitor project progress and recommend changes as necessary.
• Actively seek improvements in design and production processes.
• Ensure adherence to health & safety regulations.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• MBA or other managerial qualifications are considered a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and project management

Technical Skills

• Experience with robotic systems design
• Knowledge of HVAC systems
• Ability to conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)

Soft Skills

• Leadership qualities
• Time management

Certifications

• ISO 9001 Quality Management certification
• Lean Manufacturing certification is beneficial

Languages

• English: Fluent

• Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance: Insight into local and international engineering standards.
• Familiarity with automated testing methodologies: Experience implementing automated testing to improve design reliability.
