Special Education Teacher (Behavioral Interventionist)

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher, also known as a Behavioral Interventionist, to develop and implement personalized behavioral plans for children with special needs. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments to identify behavioral health needs of children.
• Collaborate with treatment teams to develop comprehensive care plans.
• Implement targeted behavioral interventions and track effectiveness.
• Provide training and support to families regarding behavior management.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care.
• Engage in professional development initiatives to enhance skills.
• Work with educational staff to create inclusive classroom environments.
• Monitor student progress and adjust plans as necessary.
• Advocate for the needs of students with special needs within the school.
• Lead group sessions to promote social skills and peer interaction.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or related field
• Master’s degree is an advantage

Experience

• At least 2 years of experience in special education or behavior analysis

Technical Skills

• Behavior Modification Techniques
• Data Collection and Analysis

Soft Skills

• Patience
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Sesotho: Basic

Advantageous

• Experience with autism spectrum disorder (ASD): Experience in working with children on the autism spectrum.
• Fluency in multiple languages: Ability to communicate in more than one language can enhance the role.
