Mental Health Counsellor

Job Description

We are searching for a compassionate Mental Health Counsellor to join our team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate should possess a strong dedication to helping clients overcome mental health challenges and promote overall well-being. You will work closely with individuals and groups, providing therapeutic support through various modalities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver therapeutic interventions in line with best practice guidelines.
• Provide psycho-education to clients and their families.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to address complex cases.
• Conduct research or contribute to mental health initiatives.
• Advocate for clients' needs within the community and healthcare systems.
• Support the development of mental health awareness programs.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Psychology
• Master's degree in Counselling Psychology or Social Work is preferred

Experience

• 3+ years of professional counselling experience

Technical Skills

• Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
• Motivational Interviewing

Soft Skills

• Active Listening
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Certified Mental Health Counsellor (CMHC)
• First Aid and CPR Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational
