Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for insurance applications.
• Determine appropriate insurance cover and premiums for clients.
• Formulate and communicate underwriting guidelines to agents.
• Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and customer communications.
• Review and interpret policy wording to ensure clarity for clients.
• Identify trends in claims and underwriting to recommend process improvements.
• Collaborate with loss control teams to minimize risk exposure.
• Participate in departmental meetings to discuss underwriting standards.
• Implement compliance measures to adhere to regulatory requirements.
• Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Actuarial Science
• Professional actuarial qualification is a plus

Experience

• 4+ years of experience in underwriting or a similar role

• Fellow of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (FIISA)
