Insurance Underwriter

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our Durban team. In this role, you will assess risks and determine appropriate coverage for clients. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical background and excellent communication skills. You will work closely with clients and agents to ensure that our insurance products meet their needs.

Responsibilities

• Assess risk factors associated with insurable properties and entities.
• Provide clear documentation for all underwriting decisions.
• Work with the claims department to determine validity of claims.
• Assist with policy renewals and revisions as needed.
• Evaluate customer feedback to improve underwriting processes.
• Prepare reports on underwriting activities and trends.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Economics or a related field
• Advanced degree (MBA) preferred

Experience

• 4+ years of experience in insurance underwriting

• Data Analysis
• Property Valuation

• Client Relations
• Negotiation Skills

Certifications

• Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

• Experience with claims processing: Knowledge of the claims process from submission to resolution.
