Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in various tasks, including dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate should have a passion for healthcare, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to providing top-notch service to our clients.

Responsibilities

• Support daily pharmacy operations by processing prescriptions and maintaining medication storage.
• Assist customers with health-related queries and directing them to appropriate resources.
• Contribute to health promotion and community outreach programs.
• Process health insurance claims and assist with billing inquiries.
• Document and report medication errors or adverse drug reactions as necessary.
• Engage in continuous education and training opportunities to enhance pharmaceutical knowledge.

Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Diploma in Pharmacy or related qualification is preferred

Experience

• 2+ years of experience in a pharmacy or healthcare environment

Technical Skills

• Pharmaceutical knowledge
• Inventory management

Soft Skills

• Customer-focused
• Adaptability

Certifications

• Pharmacy Technician certification is beneficial
• CPR certification is advantageous

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Xhosa: Conversational

• Knowledge of local healthcare policies: Familiarity with regulations affecting pharmacy practice in South Africa.
