Public Health Officer

Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Public Health Officer to join our team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be involved in assessing community health needs, developing health programs, and working collaboratively with stakeholders to improve the health status of the population.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement health surveillance systems.
• Work with local government on public health policies.
• Support emergency response efforts related to health crises.
• Engage in community outreach to promote health services.
• Compile reports on health program outcomes and success rates.
• Facilitate stakeholder meetings and community forums.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health or related field
• Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) highly preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in public health programs or management

• Grant Writing
• Program Evaluation

Soft Skills

• Leadership
• Negotiation

Certifications

• Certified Public Health (CPH)
• Advanced First Aid Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Xhosa: Conversational

Advantageous

• Experience with health policy advocacy: Involvement in advocating for public health policies.
