Loading and Moving Machine Operators, Underground Mining

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Joy Loader to operate underground mining equipment for loading coal or rock into shuttle cars or onto conveyor belts. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining safety protocols and ensuring equipment functionality.

Responsibilities

• Load coal or rock using the Joy Loader and ensure correct loading procedures.
• Monitor equipment performance and report any issues promptly.
• Conduct daily inspections of machines and report maintenance needs.
• Collaborate with the mining team to achieve production goals.
• Participate in safety training and compliance programs.

Requirements

Education

• Grade 10 (Matric certificate)
• Further mining qualifications preferable

Experience

• Experience operating Joy Loaders or similar machinery in underground mining

Technical Skills

• Joy Loader Operation
• Maintenance Knowledge

Soft Skills

• Adaptability
• Time Management

Certifications

• General mining safety certifications
• Operating licenses for underground machinery

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Ability to work independently: Comfortable taking initiative and managing workload with minimal supervision.
• Experience operating various types of underground mining equipment: Diverse equipment operation experience beyond Joy Loaders is a plus.
