Anesthetic Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Anesthetic Assistant to join our surgical team. In this role, you will assist anesthesiologists in administering anesthesia and monitoring patients' vital signs throughout surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the safe and efficient administration of anesthetics.
• Track and record patients' vital signs throughout the surgical procedure.
• Ensure that all anesthesia equipment is correctly maintained and sterilized.
• Work collaboratively with anesthesiologists to optimize patient outcomes.
• Conduct preliminary assessments of patients’ medical histories.
• Engage in patient education regarding anesthesia procedures and aftercare.
• Offer technical support in emergency situations.
• Implement infection control protocols rigorously during all procedures.
• Enhance team dynamics by communicating effectively within the surgical team.
• Participate in ongoing training sessions and workshops for skill enhancement.

Requirements

Education

• Completion of a recognized Anesthetic Assistant program
• HPCSA registration as an Anesthetic Assistant

Experience

• 2+ years of experience in a clinical setting

• Intravenous Therapy
• Emergency Procedures

• Communication
• Critical Thinking

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with Pediatric Patients: Experience in administering anesthesia to children is a plus.
• Knowledge of Pain Management Protocols: Understanding of various pain management strategies in anesthesia.
