Job Description

As a Child Psychologist at our Mental Wellness Centre, you'll be instrumental in guiding children and their families through challenging times. This position requires a blend of clinical skills and compassion to help young ones navigate their emotional landscapes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments to identify emotional and behavioral issues in children.
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care.
  • Utilize play therapy and other child-friendly therapeutic techniques.
  • Develop resource materials to support families in managing children’s psychological needs.
  • Engage in public speaking opportunities to promote mental health awareness.
  • Foster supportive relationships with patients to encourage open communication.
  • Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Involve parents and caregivers in the therapy process to strengthen family support.

Requirements

Education
  • Doctorate in Psychology is preferred
  • HPCSA registration as a Clinical Psychologist is mandatory
Experience
  • Experience in trauma-informed care is a plus
