Community Outreach Coordinator

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Community Outreach Coordinator to enhance our community engagement efforts. In this role, you will be responsible for organizing outreach activities, fostering partnerships with local groups, and advocating for community resources. Your passion for community service will help drive positive change in East London.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement strategies for effective community outreach.
• Foster relationships with community leaders and residents.
• Assess community needs and resources, adjusting programs as necessary.
• Plan and execute community events to increase engagement.
• Collaborate with internal teams to align outreach efforts with organizational goals.
• Document successes and challenges to inform future outreach.
• Engage with local media to enhance visibility of outreach initiatives.
• Provide support and training for community volunteers.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Non-Profit Management or Public Health is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of community outreach or social services experience

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Xhosa: Conversational

Advantageous

• Experience in working with youth programs: Hands-on experience managing outreach for youth-focused initiatives.
• Bilingual in English and Xhosa: Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Xhosa to engage with diverse communities.
