Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will have experience in developing individualized educational programs and supporting students with varying abilities in a nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the transition of students from school to post-school opportunities.
• Work closely with external agencies to provide appropriate resources to students and their families.
• Engage in school community activities to promote awareness and understanding of special education.
• Cultivate a classroom culture that respects diversity and promotes acceptance.
• Implement behavioral strategies to assist with classroom management.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Education with Specialization in Special Needs
• Master's degree in Special Education preferred

Experience

• 3+ years of experience working in special education settings

Technical Skills

• Behavior Management
• Adapted Curriculum Development

Soft Skills

• Patience
• Problem-solving

Certifications

• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Xhosa: Basic

Advantageous

• Experience in Curriculum Development for Special Needs: Knowledge of developing and adapting curricula specifically for special education.
• Knowledge of Therapeutic Techniques: Understanding of therapeutic techniques to support emotional and behavioral needs.
